| AN ONLINE RESOURCE FOR BOLECHOW FAMILY AND FRIENDS, AND FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN PRESERVING THE HERITAGE OF PRE-WAR EASTERN POLAND (GALICIA) This website is being planned as a comprehensive online resource for the preservation of the history and genealogy of the erstwhile Austrian and Polish town of Bolechow (= present-day Bolekhiv, in Ukraine). Currently in the planning stages, it will one day feature extensive photographic documentation, translations of Yizkor book entries, searchable texts of official and private documentation pertaining to the town and its inhabitants, and gedcom files of Bolechow family trees, uploaded by researchers for use by all interested parties. There will also eventually be areas for online discussion, family name searches, and continuous updates about the activities of the Bolechow Jewish Heritage Society (BJHS), an newly-established nonprofit , TAX-EXEMPT organization dedicated to preserving Jewish sites in present-day Bolechow, and to keeping alive the memory of Bolechow online--and, possibly, in the form of a museum to be located on the site of the town's Great Synagogue. ***ATTENTION!!: MAY 12th, 2008 FIRRST ANNUAL MEETING IN NEW YORK CITY FOR ALL INTERESTED PERSONS!!!*** On May 12th the Bolechow Jewish Heritage Society will be having our first Annual Meeting. We are looking forward to a wonderful opportunity for our Board to describe our progress on a specific proposal to build a wall around the Bolechow cemetery and to restore the approximately 1500 remaining headstones, to demonstrate the initial design for a state of the art website memorializing our community, and to report on activities related to the renovation of the Bolechow synagogue for use as a Galician Jewish Heritage Museum. We also anticipate being able to announce developments concerning the structure of our organization and to invite active participation from all of you on committees and through our website. In connection with our initial website design, we will be ready to add photos, family trees, stories and video presentations about Bolechow as you provide them to our web team. If you have any of these materials that you would like immediately included on the website, please bring them stored on disc. If you will not be attending, we will let you know how best to provide us with this information after we meet on May 12th. To date, 30 people have informed us that they will be joining us from around the world including those who will be attending from across the United States. Thank you, if you have already RSVP’d to either infobolechow@aol.com or info@bolechow.com. If you have done so, your name is on the security list.
